If you’ve ever been in a long-term relationship, you know that the strength of the bond between two people can fluctuate. No relationship is the same and there could be several reasons why this happens, but it doesn’t mean that you don’t love your partner. It’s up to you to determine what influences your connection, here are seven questions to ask yourself that might help to see how strong your relationships with your partners are.
1. Is this relationship healthy?
Gauging the health of your relationship can be tough to do, but the simplest way to do so is to factor in your emotional health. Being with your partner should never make you feel inferior, or as if your feelings are unimportant. Your self-esteem with your partner should be higher than it would be if you were single. If it’s not, you’d probably be better off without your partner.
2. Is it rewarding?
The best part about being in a relationship is the mutual benefit from companionship. The emotional benefits should be clear to see.
3. Are you able to fully be yourself?
The ability to completely be yourself around your partner provides a level of comfort in your relationship that can’t be overstated. You don’t want to spend your entire life being someone that you’re not just to impress someone that is supposed to love you for who you are.
4. Do the good times outweigh the bad times?
Not every relationship is going to be everything you dream of. All relationships have pros and cons, but what’s most important is that you are happy far more than you get negative vibes from your partner.
Conflict resolution is of the utmost importance. When things go wrong, you and your partner should be able to work things out and come to an agreement.
6. Is it still fun?
No matter how long you’ve been with your partner, the fun should never leave the relationship. The moment that relationships become strictly business, is when they get tricky. Some people tend to look elsewhere to fulfill things that their relationship is missing.
7. Do you trust your partner?
Every relationship has to be built on a foundation of trust. Even before you fall in love, you have to at least believe that you can trust someone with your heart and everything else that comes along. Relationships are never complete without it.
